Over Colanders & Sieves

A colander or sieve is used almost every day in the kitchen. Here you will find stainless steel colanders from 18 to 28 cm, colanders on a base with handles, a 3-piece sieve set, and an extendable colander that you place over the sink.

Which colander or sieve is right for you?

  • Stainless steel colander: Kinghoff colanders are available in Ø 18, 24, and 28 cm. With 18 cm, you can rinse a small bowl of fruit or a small portion of vegetables; in a 28 cm colander, you can drain a large pot of pasta or potatoes.
  • Colander on a base: stands firmly in the sink, so you have both hands free to tilt the pot. Choose from stainless steel in silver (25 x 15 cm) or iron in white or black (22 x 18.5 cm) with bamboo or wood handles.
  • Sink colander: a stainless steel colander measuring 36.5 x 23 cm that you extend until it fits over your sink. It rests on the edges of the sink, so you don't have to hold it.
  • Sieve set: the 3-piece sieve set from Kinghoff, with three sieves for, for example, flour, powdered sugar, rice, or sauce.

Colander or sieve: what do you use each for?

A colander has holes in the bottom and sides and is used for larger items: pasta, potatoes, vegetables, and fruit. A sieve has fine mesh, so that rice, legumes, or small grains do not fall through. You also use a sieve to sift flour to make it airy or to make a sauce smooth. Rinse a sieve immediately after use so that nothing dries stuck in the mesh. Stainless steel does not rust and handles hot water well.

What is the difference between a colander and a sieve?
A colander has holes and is primarily for draining. A sieve has fine mesh and also stops small grains; you also use it to sift flour.
