In this first part of The Tafsir of Ibn Kathir, you will read the tafsir, or explanation, of the first two surahs of the Quran. On the method of Ibn Kathir

In his introduction, Ibn Kathir explains that the Quran is primarily explained by the Quran itself: what is stated in general terms in one place is often clarified in another. If that is not possible, one looks to the Sunnah, which explains the Quran and clarifies its meaning.
