How is the green color created?

The glaze contains silicon, manganese, and copper. After being fired in an earthen kiln, it acquires its striking green color. Sometimes the copper is replaced by iron oxide, which makes the color more brown or olive green.

Good to know

Because every bowl is handmade and fired, no two pieces are the same. Bubbles, scratches, small spots in the glaze, and variations in the shade of green are characteristic of this pottery.
