Le Chatelard 1802 Marseille soap with donkey milk – palm oil free

This Marseille soap with donkey milk comes from Le Chatelard 1802, a soap maker in St Auban sur Ouvèze in Provence (France), where every soap is handmade. It contains no palm oil: the base is olive oil with sweet almond oil. Thanks to its pH-neutral composition, it does not dry out your skin, and the soap provides a rich lather with a subtle scent.

How the soap is made

The soap is prepared in the traditional Marseille way. Seawater from the Mediterranean is combined with olive oil and other vegetable oils in a large cauldron for a few days, while everything is constantly stirred. Afterwards, the soap hardens in molds and is cut to size and stamped. From start to finish, this takes up to about a month.
