How Tamegroute pottery is made
The craft has been passed down from parent to child for generations in Tamegroute. The potters source the clay from the riverbed and throw and shape it into vases, bowls, and dishes. The clay sometimes contains small stones or grains of sand, giving the surface a unique texture with small irregularities. The glaze is a mixture of a small amount of natural copper (1%), local minerals, and the clay itself.
